Kap JASA Interview at International Kite Festival
Hello Saša Good Morning and Welcome to the International Kite Festival 2020 in Ahmedabad.
Saša – Thankyou Shesh and Good Morning.
How You Started KAP JASA?
Saša – We started KAP JASA as a team almost 3 years ago in 2017. Almost by accident. Back then we have a small stunt kite and we tapped a mobile phone with sellotape to the kite and tried to fly it. It was a terrible experience. But it was fun.
Then we understood that we need bigger compatible kites. So Janez looked online for some bigger kites, More stable kites that are suitable for Kite Aerial Photography.
After learning online and trying with his own Janez made first Kite The Blue Rokkaku which was 200 cm in size can lift a compact camera in a 5 Km/h breeze.
We added Royal 69 Sled which was 160 cm in size and suitable for stronger winds.
We recently added a 333 cm Great White Delta.
Why You Choose Kites For Aerial Photography ?
Saša – One of the reason we choose kites for Aerial Photography is nowadays drones are very popular but they have their own drawbacks
- Their battery drains much faster
- They are unable to fly in strong winds.
- They are costly and adding a lifetime expense.
Apart from this drones have Restrictions to many places like in Slovenia You can not fly Drones in towns above people and so on.
But people think kites are a Toy almost. They don’t fear with kites over their heads and authority don’t regulate kites. So we can do Aerial Photography anywhere in our country or anywhere else which was impossible with drones.
How was your Journey so far in this field?
Saša– Well it was a great journey we learned a lot so far. Janez made more kites. Specifically designed for different wind patterns.
Some kites are flying high, some fly low but far and its important if you wanna capture something from air that you can not reach then you will use a kite that fly far but not much high and if you have something near you then you put a different kite that stays high but stay close to you.
Basically we have kites for different needs according to wind patterns.
We won many photography competition one of them was recently organised by Wikipedia in Slovenia “Wiki Loves Monuments 2019“
We were also selected in an exhibition which was held in France.
Recently One of the Largest Slovenian Internet News Sites published Article About us.
How many countries you have visited regarding Kite Flying?
Saša– Well we visited Prvić, Croatia, Italy, India (two times) and other 5-6 countries. Where we fly our kites and captured amazing Aerial Photos and Videos.
Are you a Full-Time Aerial Photographer?
Saša– No, I actually work in Advertising, I am a copywriter. I make scenarios for commercials.
Janez is Graphic Designer and George (the third member of our team) is Lawyer.
In 2019 you organised International Kite Festival Slovenia?
Saša– Yes, we call it International Kite Festival Slovenia because we with our friends of the Zmajoljupci – Kite Flying Lovers club from Zagreb, Croatia, and together we turned our little festival into a proper International Kite Festival Ljubljana 2019.
It was an amazing event. We flew about 50 kites in the sky. We did not advertised it but people suddenly came to know about it.
We successfully gathered lot of people without any advertisement.
What are the gears you use in Aerial Kite Photography?
Saša– Well! Most importantly the kites are specially designed for Aerial Photography.
We have 5-6 different kites for different wind conditions and for different motives.
We have special Picavet Rig which was added to the kite and different camera and sensors can be fixed on that for better stabilization.
